Dr. Sylvia Rose-Ann Walker retired from academia in 2018 and currently offers her scholarly expertise in support of curriculum development across diverse fields in secondary and tertiary education in Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Walker’s career has been profoundly influenced by Trinidadian born author and distinguished scholar Dr. Wilfred Cartey, who though visually impaired as an adult, rose to prominence in the United States as a a literary critic and poet.

After Cartey’s death in 1992, Walker undertook deep inquiry into Cartey’s life and work; her philosophical findings underpin her PhD monograph and her In Conversation talk. Dr. Walker gained distinction in 2009 as both the Most Outstanding Post graduate student and the Most outstanding PhD thesis at the Faculties of Humanities & Education and Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies, St.Augustine.
