Ami Tamakloe is a Doctoral AnthropolArtist at Cornell University, identifying first as a storyteller. She is a multi-modal artist, with more than a decade working across audio-visual media, cloth, voice/sound, and body to tell meaningful stories. Her dynamic practice stems from a belief in non-conformity and a drive to center the narratives of marginalized cultures, stories, and people, with an emphasis on gender, sexuality, Blackness, and belonging. When she works, she focuses on the story, and the story reciprocates by shaping itself. Through her artistic and intellectual practice, she aims to contribute to a more equitable world.
