Those We Lost
A Young Dance Professional
Michaela Mabinty Deprince (January 6, 1995 – September 10, 2024)
Born in Sierra Leone in the early years of the nation’s brutal civil war (1991 to 2002), Deprince survived war, poverty, orphanage, migration, racism, classism, and stigma to become one of the most exquisite ballet dancers of her generation. A brilliant life and career cut short, DePrince will be forever missed.
